Philosophy
I
have worked professionally in a variety of fields that use
geospatial technology for over 15 years. I have worked
in non-profit, for profit, consulting, state and local
governement, international government, academia, and independent
consulting. I have experience working with all
levels of
government organizations. Some clients, some partnerships,
some
colleagues. I have worked for the environment, for the
developer,
for the government, for my clients, and for myself. I have a
strong background in a variety of geospatial technologies and a broad
array of being able to use and get organizations to use these
technologies appropriately, effectively, and efficiently. I
work
to keep operations streamlined, focused, and with as little dependency
as possible on 3rd party customizations that are not fully supported
for the long term and/or have a long-term plan to evolve these
technologies to better and more effective solutions when determined
appropriate. Best practices are paramount in any economy and
industry.
I bring this
knowledge, ability, experience, and skill
to the classroom and to my colleagues. I hope that students
gain
an appreciation not just for the skill and knowledge they are
developing, but for the ability to critically think, discover,
and
develop solutions to a variety of "real-world" problems, using
real-world data and techniques.
Students will get this
in my classes.

more.
